Reading Notes:Narayan's Mahabharata Part C

Narayan's Mahabharata

Reading Notes:

A crane! Oh, yay! I like the scene by the lake, where the brothers ignore the crane and din from the lake without first answering the yaksha's questions. Interestingly the Yaksha is Yudhistira's Father.
After he answers the 100 questions, he s able to revive only 1 brother. He chose his youngest brother, from his other Mother, so that both Mother's would have 1 son alive. Because of his mental strength the Yaksha revived all his brothers. And he was granted the boon to remain incognito whenever he wished.

If they were to live without being recognized for one full  year I wonder why they chose to live and work in a palace?

Interesting that Duryodhana recognized the manner in which Bhima would kill someone. To have this insight is the first time he has really shown any intelligence in this story.

I may be confused....if Arjuna fount Duryodhana and his cronies, was he not seen and would then be excited for another 12 years?

I find Duryodhana's fathers weakness, and indecisiveness worse than evil. I feel it due to his back and forth ways, that it has all lead to the decline of his family. Although Duryodhana is the face of that decline.

Arjuna chose Krishna over the 1 million soldiers, although he would not fight. I like how they presented this. You can tell that Arjuna chose wisely, although his cousin was very happy with the 1 million soldiers. I am not sure yet, why Arjuna chose the better option yet, but I like that I am looking forward to figuring it out.

The pandavas are wronged. The Kauravas are the initiators. Dhritarashtra dithers. Goes back and forth. eventually, the Pandavas win in some way. this is the flow of this entire story. I am still picturing the young boys on the playground.
