Reading Notes: Narayan's The Ramayana Part B

Reading Notes:

Interesting how Rama nor his mother Kausalya, lash out at Kaikeyi for contriving a way for her son to be made king.

Although all are fighting against Kaikeyi and her request of the promise made by the King, and also, although Kaikeyi's first response to Rama being made king was one of happiness for him, she is still fulfilling Rama's legacy.

The King has a memory from years ago, where you accidentally shot a little boy with an arrow, and when he told the boy's parents they cursed him. It seems the King has had a wonderful, fulfilling life, yet breaks down at this one travesty.

Everyone in court is dismayed and overwhelmed by the departure of Rama. I wonder if, even if he and they don't know he is an avatar of Vishnu, I wonder if they can feel the Devine presence within him.

Not sure how this story ends, but Sita chooses exile over comfort, in order to stay with Rama.

The people feel as one would expect Rama to feel. Disconsolate, and hopeful that at any moment, the situation will be reversed.
What if no one wants Rama to leave, because the very air around him soothes them as a God may a human? An addiction, if you will to his aura....possible story line but make it modern.

Rama denies Ravana's sister advances, and after battling her soldiers, she runs to her brother to tell of the humans who mutilated her.
