This article provides an entry level idea into Ganesha, and the foods he loves. With every food that it mentions, there is a story that goes with it. It also speaks about the characteristics of Ganesha, and his benevolent nature.
Story Idea: I like how this article had a story for each food, and the experience Ganesha had with that food. He is mentioned in the article as a "Foodie God", and I love that explanation. I could see a potential idea, having food as the main topic that flows throughout the whole story, and having a small story for the dish. So the main story would be comprised of smaller stories about certain dishes, and then also, there would be the main theme, that connects the smaller stories into the main story. Essentially, a running idea would be, all things being and end with food.
Article: What is Ganesh Chaturthi? Why is it Celebrated? By: India Today Web Desk
This article sparked some ideas for me as I wanted to know more about the God, Ganesha. The article explains the many names of Ganesha, and a few stories on how he came to be born.
Story Idea: While I don't want to go with a story theme that I read in a previous students work, I truly liked their idea of having a festival as the background to their story. The article explained some history in the way the Ganesh Chaturthi has been celebrated, and I could see a generational story, of a family, and how their history of celebrating this festival and holiday has evolved. Perhaps, also, having a certain dish having a prominent place in the story, and how it is also passed through those generations. I am not sure how likely this story would be, it would take much research on how people lived in previous times in India, but I like the idea of how important this festival may be to a family, and their ancestors.
Article: 15 Food festivals in India that you just can't afford to miss. by:Sanchari Pal
This article provides a lot of information about various food festivals in India, where and when the festival takes place, and a description of the types of food or process that takes place.
Story Idea: Food festival, current time, 2 people who have suffered hard times attend, individually. They meet at a stall where they are being taught to make a certain dish, perhaps modak, and they being to speak. by having modak as the dish, maybe Ganesha is there also, in disguise, and witnesses the lonliness of each individual, and somehow wants to become involved, and help them. Perhaps he is so happy because all the modak he is being able to eat. And thus begins a story of a family, who were blessed and brought together by a God, never realizing it until near the end of the story.
